Actions collectives

This class action was filed by M. Steven Godin-Charlish and M. Justin Fineday, on behalf of persons incarcerated at the SHU, after March 26, 2015, due to alleged prolonged and indefinite placement at the SHU that constitutes a violation of the rights of the class members, protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

This Class action seeks compensatory damages for the harm suffered by class members as a result of their prolonged detention at the SHU and punitive damages for the intentional violation of their fundamental rights by Correctional Service Canada.

If you have been incarcerated in the SHU between March 26, 2015, to present, please read the following notice.

If you have been incarcerated in the SHU after March 26, 2015, please contact us by email providing us with your name, fps, date of birth, current place of detention and the period you have been incarcerated at the SHU.

Cette action collective a été déposée par M. Steven Godin-Charlish et M. Justin Fineday, pour le compte de personnes incarcérées à l’Unité spéciale de Détention (l’USD) après le 26 mars 2015. Ils soutiennent que le placement prolongé et à durée indéterminée à l’USD constitue une violation des droits des membres du groupe protégés par la Charte canadienne des droits et libertés.

Cette action collective vise à obtenir des dommages-intérêts compensatoires pour le préjudice subi par les Membres du groupe en conséquence de séjours à l’USD et des dommages-intérêts punitifs pour l’atteinte intentionnelle à leurs droits fondamentaux par le Service correctionnel du Canada.
